Can’t find what you’re looking for?
Start a split and explore — the app is
designed to be self-explanatory at the table.
Is Receipt Split free?
Yes. Adding line items by hand, assigning items, sharing links,
payment groups, and tax/tip math are all free. AI receipt scanning
uses credits — you get 5 free scans when you sign in, and can buy more
or subscribe to Pro ($2.99/mo) for unlimited scans.
Do my friends need an account?
No. Anyone with the receipt link can open it and assign their items.
Signing in is optional — it unlocks receipt history, saved payment
handles, and free AI scans.
How does AI receipt scanning work?
Take a photo of the receipt and our AI reads line items, subtotals,
tax, and tip when printed on the bill. You can edit anything
before/after sharing. Scanning uses one credit per photo; manual entry
never costs a credit.
How are tax and tip split?
Enter tax and tip as a dollar amount or a percentage of the subtotal.
We allocate them proportionally to each person based on their share of
the food and drink — not evenly across the table.
Can we split shared appetizers?
Yes. Assign a line item to multiple people and it divides evenly
across everyone selected — perfect for bread, nachos, or a shared
dessert.
What are payment groups?
Payment groups let couples or families pay on one card. Group members’
totals combine into a single number so the final split matches how you
actually pay.
Does it work in other currencies?
Yes. Turn on currency conversion to translate the receipt from the
local currency to your home currency using a live exchange rate before
splitting.
Is my receipt data private?
Receipts are accessible to anyone with the link — that’s how sharing
works. Only signed-in owners can see their receipt list in history.
Don’t share links publicly if the receipt contains sensitive
information.
How much do scan credits cost?
A one-time pack of 20 AI scans is $2.99. Credits never expire. Pro
($2.99/mo) includes unlimited scans and can be cancelled anytime.
What if the AI misreads a line item?
Edit any line before or after sharing — amounts, descriptions, and
assignments are fully editable. AI is a shortcut, not a lock-in.
